Good make-up is nothing without a good base so you need to look after your skin. We cant always afford the time or cash for regular facials but there's no reason you cant give yourself DIY facials once a week, especially the morning after the night before you came home drunk and slept in your make-up.  Dont deny it, I know you do it!
I can show you how to give your skin a few extra minutes of treatment time and how it will thank you.

STEP 1. Massage with a good cleansing oil
Nice and gently work the oil into your face, not forgetting your neck and under your chin and spend a good minute or so on massaging this in with your fingertips. Wet your hands to turn the oil into an emulsion and go over the face again gently massaging all areas, especially around the t-zone, forehead and chin, then rinse with warm water.

Cleansing oil is worth spending a bit of money on, you wont use it daily so it should really last and the benefits of a good oil will make all the difference. My top choices are:

STEP 2. Cleanse again
Pat your face dry and cleanse your face with your regular cleanser that suits your skin type. Again taking  a minute or so to massage gently into your entire face including neck and under chin, starting at the bottom and working upwards and outwards before rinsing clean with warm water


STEP 3. Exfoliate
 I've talked before about Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant £28. It's the only exfoliator I reccomend. The less you use the better it works so one bottle should last you ages, mine lasts up to 6 months. Mix a small amount with a small amount of water to create a paste & massage gently around the face with your fingertips for about a minute, working upwards from your neck and under your chin up the sides of your nose & outwards over the forehead coming down the sides of your face, being careful around the eyes. Make sure you get in all the nooks of the face, including on and around the lips, then rinse clean and pat dry

STEP 4. Face Mask
Your face should already feel much softer and look clearer. Apply any rehydrating face mask no matter what skin type you have, even oily, and relax for 10-15 minutes. Again, dont forget the neck.

Remove the mask with a warm damp muslin cloth softly wiping it off in small motions without dragging your skin

STEP 5. Moisturise
Finish with your choice of moisturiser or night cream, gently dab an eye cream around your eye and go to sleep on clean pillows!

Pro tip: remove your earings and also work the cleanser and exfoliator on and around the ears

oh and all those fine lines around your eyes that you think are wrinkles? if you drink 2 litres of water a day... gone!
